Creating Communities Through Art - Collaborative Mural
Creating Communities Through Art was a research project conducted by Queen's University and presented in partnership with The Union Gallery and The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning. An interdisciplinary team of 6 graduate students researched community-led arts pedagogy initiatives in the Katarokwi-Kingston region—past, present, and future. Additionally, the research team invited eight artists to create a collaborative work of art live in the gallery during the exhibition.
Participating in both elements of the project, I was interviewed by the research team about my role and experience As a founding member of the collective ForWorld Studios, of which I am no longer a member, before being asked to participate in the collaborative mural.
Working with "themes of growth, and connections under the big topic of community", a group of eight artists including myself worked in small groups over three sessions to create the mural.
